The Amazing Screw-On Head is...Amazing.

I'm a little behind the times here, but as I was doing a little research on Pushing Daisies (my new favorite television show), I came across The Amazing Screw-On Head. It is a one-shot comic book from 2002, but an animated pilot was created in 2006 and released on DVD earlier this year. The Sci-Fi Channel did not pick up the show and now it seems it is sitting in the vast purgatory of television shows. Either way, the pilot is below and Bryan Fuller was the executive producer. Fuller is also the creator of ABC's Pushing Daisies (8 p.m. EST, Wednesdays), as well as Dead Like Me and Wonderfalls (both canceled, but great and on DVD). As I watched the pilot I couldn't help but be surprised that this wasn't on Adult Swim, because it seems to fit in nicely with the weird/funny, but still serious shows they have on there. Check it out and make sure to check out Pushing Daisies on Wednesday, it is a real hit.

PS: I forgot to mention some of the most important things about this pilot. Paul Giamatti (Sideways, Cinderella Man) does the voice of the Amazing Screw-On Head. David Hyde Pierce (Frasier) voices Emperor Zombie and Patton Oswalt (King of Queens) does Mr. Groin, Screw-On's butler. Enjoy!

Tuesday is Just Five Days Away

Since Ed was gushing over the new Thrice and Coheed, I figured I would do some of my own gushing. I guess I already said a bit earlier on the new Say Anything album In Defense of the Genre, but there has been some 'developments.'

The band released a trailer for the album, which features some music and some commentary from the band. This should definitely add a few points to the hype meter. One of us will be reviewing it this week I'm sure.

Two Big Leaks

Today when I was downloading music legallly I came across two of the bigger releases of the fall. Coheed and Cambria and Thrice have had their newest releases put up online.


Thrice is actually releasing the first two of four the mini albums entitled The Alchemy Index. With track names depicting either Fire or Water, Thrice keeps a constant theme throughout both albums.


Coheed and Cambria has released the best technical album to date. Pulling in major influences from bands everyone should know like Pink Floyd, Led Zepplan and Rush, Co&Ca has made an abum that takes them out of the screamo genre and gives them a solid footing in Prog-Rock.

YouTube Find of the Week...or Sooner

After a busy week at The Recorder, I noticed that the blog hasn't been touched in seven days. Since it is partially my duty to keep this beast alive, I decided to scour YouTube for something hilarious to share with you guys. What happens when you take the worst song ever and mash it up with the worst children's show of all time? The funniest three minutes ever.
