Dept. of Eagles and Here We Go Magic Team Up For Shows

I'm not sure if Fred Nicolaus and Daniel Rossen's Department of Eagles got as much hype as one of Brooklyn's new acts Here We Go Magic. Either way, the enthusiasm is totally worth it and now they both have something for fans to come out and experience the hype for themselves.

Both bands have put out albums just a couple moths apart, with Department of Eagles releasing their In Ear Park back in October. It still seems like a pretty fresh album and certainly something I'd like to see performed live. Here We go Magic's self-titled album is set to drop February 24, though it's certainly been popping up in a few places around the internets - tracks are available for listening on their MySpace, for example. Technically, HWGM is a one-man-band, with lead singer/songwriter Luke Temple soloing on the album. In live performances, he will be accompanied by a bassist and a drummer while he will do the vocals, guitar and synth.

I'm digging Flavorpill's "Winter Wonderland" mixtape on 8tracks. They said goodbye to muxtape and embraced this new mixtape-making--and-sharing site that allows for mixes around 30 minutes or more of music (or roughly 8 tracks). And, apparently, it's all legal!

Winter Wonderland has 15 tracks, including songs by Skip James, The Dodos, Jens Lekman, Mother Mother and Crystal Stilts. 

Q: What is 8tracks?

On 8tracks, people can do two things: listen to a mix, or create a mix. Listeners can search for a mix by artist or genre, stream it in a legal, radio-style manner, and follow others who make compelling mixes. DJs upload MP3s or select tracks from the 8tracks library to craft a playlist, add context with description and art, and publish their mix on 8tracks.com and a personal webpage.
