The Fratellis' New Album Less Exciting Than iPod Commercial

Well, to clarify, the entire new album by The Fratellis was less exciting than the single "Flathead" that came from last year's Costello Music and it was pretty hard to beat in terms of catchy-ness.

But still, Here We Stand, which is scheduled to be released June 10th in the United States, is a bit of a let-down compared to the beats that one, made their 2007 album a pretty good listen and two, made a decent soundtrack for Simon Pegg's latest movies. In contrast, some might say it's slightly more mature (and definitely slow), but borderline dipping into generic alt-rock.

Rolling Stone gave it 3 out of 5 stars - so let's say a 60 - (weird, because the user rating is more like 90) and did mention here and there that the occasional anthem or two can be found on Here We Stand. One such, "Mistress Mabel," will probably fare better than the rest, or at least did with my ears and is set to be released June 3rd as a single.
