I feel like I'm always talking about amazing debut albums and it looks like we're in store for another one. On a completely unrelated side note: How awesome is Black Mountain's In the Future? It is growing on me more and more everyday. We'll see if that translates into seeing them live in either New York or Boston in the next week or so.
Back on subject. Finally we are getting the debut album from Blood Red Shoes. Granted, I haven't been a fan of the duo consisting of Steven Ansell and Laura-Mary Carter since they formed three years ago, but that seems like an awful long time to go without a full-length. The bad news is Box of Secrets won't hit stores until April 14th, but the good news is their single, "You Bring Me Down," was released last week and readily available via iTunes.
So what to expect? I'm going to avoid comparing them to other drum/guitar/dual vocalist bands that I'm sure you will hear plenty of come April, and just say it's raw yet harmonious. Great indie rock flair, but the dueling male/female vocals add an element that a band such as the Arctic Monkeys would be missing. Take that how you like. Right now two songs off Box of Secrets are streaming on their MySpace. Check them out.
PS: You can also find the video for "You Bring Me Down" here.
